CoppinsGifts.com bald eagle treats

Independence Day is just around the corner, and it’s time to start thinking about those barbeque parties!  Your kids will probably want to get involved in some way.  We have a great treat idea that they’ll love making.  They’ll also learn a thing or two about one of our country’s greatest creatures.
(There’s some melted chocolate involved, so parents will need to help!)

Bald Eagle Treats
This recipe makes six treats.

  • ¼ cup white chocolate chips
  • six large marshmallows
  • finely shredded coconut
  • Oreo cookies
  • six cashews
  • black decorator’s gel

  • Melt the white chocolate chips according to the directions on the package.
  • For each treat, drop a marshmallow into the melted chocolate.  Make sure it’s covered well.
  • Roll the chocolate covered marshmallow in the coconut.  Leave one of the ends uncovered (this will act as the base).
  • Immediately place the marshmallow (coconut-free side down) on the Oreo cookie.
  • Let it set for a bit, then use a toothpick to make a hole in the front of the marshmallow.  Insert the cashew to act as the beak.
  • Use the gel to make two black eyes on the face.
