Labor Day Recipes to Send Off Summer in the Right Way

With Labor Day coming up this weekend,  you might be scrounging for some great recipes to impress your barbeque guests.  Have no fear! At, we have a few easy salads and other dishes to help you send off summer the right way, as well as a beautiful “You are Special” red plate to serve them on!

Grilled Corn Salad

  • 10 ears of corn, grilled
  • 4 Tbps. of Olive Oil
  • ½ of a red onion, diced
  • 1 Tomato, diced
  • ¼ cup of lime juice (to taste)
  • Thyme and Basil (to taste)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Start by grilling the 10 ears of corn until they look slightly charred. When finished, take the corn off of the cob and place into a large mixing bowl. Next, add chopped onions, tomatoes, and herbs. Then add your lime juice and Olive Oil, gently mixing all the ingredients together. Add your salt and pepper to taste. You can serve this delicious salad warm or chilled, which makes it perfect for your end of the year outdoor barbeque!

Breaded Crunchy Tomato slices

  • 2 Sliced tomatoes
  • ½ of a cup of Olive oil
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs

Put your sliced tomatoes in a pie dish, or some sort of baking pan. Add your olive oil by putting your tomatoes in half-way, letting them soak up all the oil for 30 minutes. Dry off excess oil off with a paper towel. Press into your breadcrumbs and enjoy as a nice, light, vegetarian snack!

Cherry Jubilee Compote Surprise

  • 5 cups cherry (pitted)
  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • ½ cup of sugar

Put all ingredients into a large pan and reduce them down until they are soft. Serve over ice cream or cheesecake for a delicious dessert that will have everyone wanting more!
